hello bb's,

hope you all had a good thanksgiving.

i decided not to go down to fresno and spend it with mom's cause they eat so freakin' early and i needed to be back on friday to take care of some household schtuff.

i spent it with a friend, lisa and her family. it was nice but i felt a little disappointed that there were no mashed potatoes. ya know how you just associate certain mandatories to your memories? well, mashed potatoes is on that list. you might as well not have a turkey. but i managed to still stuff myself with other starches, macaroni & cheese, baked beans, mac salad...and of course the goodies.

thinking to myself, that woulda been perfect if not for the potatoes, i drove home, tummy full and planning to get horizontal on my couch and make a potatoe of myself...i come home to a message from my friend eddie, asking where i was & to come over. so i get back in my car & drive back to san leandro and visit and they are just sitting down to dinner and tho i insist i can't eat even a bite, they insist that i at least taste and of course i do--and they DO have mashed potatoes, a MOUNTAIN of them and gravy. i felt like that dog on the wb cartoon*
www.earthstation1.com/WBCarto...ravy.wav

i even was forced to participate in a pumpkin pie taste off. just one bite each but i'm tellin' ya, by then i was about to burst.

SO!
now that the actual holiday for being thankful is past, what did you feel in want of, what was missing from your holiday?

oh yeah.
also, i missed not having yams with the marshmallow crust and walnuts, brown sugar dealio. candy posing as vegetables is always good.

*my search for this learnt' me that it was one of the cartoons that's been banned--damn, so many classics that kids today are not allowed to watch for fear they promote violence, emulation

It's good to hear from you. I havn't seen Rebecca around in ages. I should write and say hi to her.
My thanksgiving dinner was at my X's parents. My son and his girlfrien, and my daughter, who you met.
They decided for the first and last time, to get the meal made at Gelsons, so the whole dinner was kind of spend evaluating it. "the turkey is too saltly" , "the vegies are too mushy","the mashed potatoes are watery". stuff like that.
We did have yams that were great, and the salad I made was rockin. I guess what I missed the most was having a homemade meal, which could never compare to that.
I ate too much just the same.

good to "hear" from you too. yeah, i rebecca & i have played phone tag but i think her job and school have sucked her into the vortex.

yeah, my minor disappointments did not stop me from eating too much either.

      oh yeah!

mia was cranberry sauce too. the 1st dinner had some pear chutney but i NEED the cranberry sauce. preferrably from the can.

Two Thanksgiving dinners and NO cranberry sauce!! That's a crime. We had an excess of the stuff. Wish I could a given ya some.
Untill I was about 22, the canned stuff was a must have. Then I started making it myself with the whole fresh cranberries, and putting candied ginger and oranges in it, and now that's my favorite.

          sounds divine.

much better than the can shaped with the ridges round the middle, in a pinch, that stuff MAKES the turkey sandwich. the SAUCE spread on one bread, turkey then a layer of stuffing next to bread. this is the only application that warrants bread on bread.

          mmm

            mmmm!
I love sandwiches like that , and the whole bread on bread thing only works with turkey and cranberry sauce. I put the whole canberry sauce on the sandwich too, but the cranberries sometimes fall out right on your shirt, then it creates a stain if you're not near any water to wash it off with. A stain to always remember that sandwhich by...

            *sigh*

But , what I like the most next to the yams is "Pumpkin Pie",
daaaaang , I'm still eating PP , can't get enough of that stuff.
Glad to hear that you guys are allright and all that jazzz.

I heard a that deep frying turkey business. Never tried it. Maybe we could try deep frying some pumpkin pie. Hey, that might be a good money maker....
